DESIGN PHASE

Introduction
The goals of the design phase are to estimate the:

Overall System Layout
Whether using a computer program or sketching in a workbook, it is a good idea to draw a picture of the system.  It can start simple, but should include more details as the design furthers.  These diagrams are nice for capturing the design at one glance, assembling a list of materials for purchase, and for maintaining a record of what you’ve done.

Although inverters usually come with internal overload protections, remember to add in-line breakers and fuses for secondary protection, and to comply with building codes where necessary.  Equipment owner manuals will typically provide recommendations for the minimum fuse, breaker, and wiring ratings.  No matter how smart you may be, it always pays to doube check and read the original equipment documentation!
